Bergen and the Norwegian Fjords

Day 1: Arrival Bergen
Arrival at Bergen airport and transfer to the city. Meet your guide at the hotel in Bergen and start a 2 hours walking tour. Bergen is unique, not least because of its fantastic location and world-famous surroundings. 7 magnificent mountains and beautiful fjords form the backdrop to an international but at the same time distinctively local atmosphere that makes an indelible impression on everyone who visits the city. Take a tour around the fish market and Bryggen Hanseatic wharf. Bryggen (wharf in Norwegian) consists of 14th century hanseatic buildings. More than 60 buildings of the original wharf are still standing and today this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also one of the top sights in Norway. Overnight at Thon Hotel Bristol.

Day 2 : Bergen – Balestrand
Breakfast in the hotel. Take an express boat from Bergen to Balestrand. At 08:00: Departure from Bergen by express boat At 11:50: Arrival in Balestrand Check-in at Kvikne’s hotel, Balestrand. The hotel is located just on the coast of the fjord. Kviknes’ traditions of hospitality go right back to 1752. The Kvikne family, which owns the hotel today, took over in 1877. They started a process of constant development that continues to this day. Dinner-buffet & overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 : Excursion to Fjærland
Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy a beautiful Scandinavian breakfast buffet Take a Glacier tour to Fjærland from Balestrand The Fjærlandsfjord is the green fjord under the Jostedalsbreen glacier. Experience this beautiful fjord and its particular green water, which owes its color to the melting glaciers that can be seen in the horizon. At 08.05 : Departure from Balestrand At 09.45: Arrival Fjærland Sail into the scenic Fjærlandsfjord. Visit also the Supphellebreen glacier before returning to Fjærland. At 15.20: Departure by boat from Fjærland At 16:50: Arrival in Balestrand Dinner-buffet & overnight at Kvikne ́s Hotel.

Day 4: Balestrand – Flåm
Breakfast in the hotel. Check-out from the hotel. Take an express boat from Balestrand to Flåm.
At 11.50: Departure from Balestrand.
At 13.25: Arrival in Flåm. You will experience the Sognefjord, which is the largest fjord in Norway, and the third longest in the world. The Sognefjord has several distinctive fjord arms winding their way between steep mountains to end in small, picturesque villages. One of the most spectacular branches of the Sognefjord is the world-famous Nærøyfjord, which has now been included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. You can choose between different boat trips to experience the beauty of the fjords all year round. Check-in at Flamsbrygga Hotell. Flåm – a descent down the valley of Flåm offers a constantly changing panorama of sky-high snow covered mountains, waterfalls and green pastures at the bottom of the valley. Flåm is situated at the start of the Aurlandsfjord- one of the “arms” of the majestic Sognefjord. Dinner at Flamsbrygga restaurant Overnight at Flåmsbrygga Hotell.

Day 5: Fjord excursions
Breakfast at the hotel. Experience the great Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, two of Norway’s most attractive fjords. The Nærøyfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list and is considered to be among the most scenic fjord areas on the planet. Its outstanding natural beauty is derived from its narrow and steep-sided crystalline rock walls that rises up to 1400 m straight from the fjord. Roundtrip Flåm-Gudvangen-Flåm.
At 10.00: Take a bus next to the hotel to Gudvangen
At 10.20: Arrival in Gudvangen
At 10.30: Departure by boat from Gudvangen
At 12.55: Arrival in Flåm Dinner at Flamsbrygga restaurant Overnight at Flåmsbrygga Hotell.

Day 6: Flåm – Bergen
Breakfast in the hotel and check-out Leave Flåm for Bergen by train via Myrdal. Experience the Flåm Railway – the amazing rail journey between the high mountains and the fjord. The over 65 year old Flåm Railway is widely known as one of the world’s most fantastic stretches of railroad. On this amazing journey you will experience a climb of nearly 900 meters from fjord to mountain top, an incline of one to 18, a tunnel that twists in a spiral inside the mountain, and a view that will take your breath away.
At 11.00: Flåm departure
At 11.59: Arrival to Myrdal

At 14.23: Arrival Bergen Transfer from central train station to the hotel. Overnight at Thon Hotel Bristol.

Day 7: Departure Bergen
Breakfast in the hotel. Check-out. Transfer to the airport.
