Day 1: Arrival to Tromsø
Arrive in the airport of Tromsø and private transfer to the hotel. Situated at 69 degrees north Tromsø is located about 2000 km from the North Pole. Tromsø is the home of the world ́s northernmost University, Beer Brewery, Cathedral, Glass blowing hut, Botanical Garden and Electronic Music Festival. The city is surrounded by spectacular mountains and since the middle of the 19th century Tromsø has been the center for Arctic hunting and a starting point for polar expeditions. You will be visiting the land of the Midnight sun and the Polar nights. Day 2: Tromsø
Breakfast at the hotel. At 09.00 leave for at Snowmobile Adventure in the Lyngen Alps (duration 7 hours) The Lyngen Alps is one of Norway ́s premier winter wilderness playgrounds. This exhilarating snowmobile tour takes you from fjord to mountain, starting on easy ground then becoming more varied, following a well-established trail. The route takes you up and into the alpine landscape which defines this area. Two persons share one snowmobile and take turns driving and relaxing as a passengers. NOK 70 extra to ride alone. Day 3: Tromsø
Breakfast at the hotel. At 10.00: Leave for the excursion – Reindeer Sledding with Sami Culture (duration 4 hours) Join the real Sami guide, who comes from a Sami family with long reindeer herding traditions. Enjoy an unforgettable experience of pure reindeer sledding (4 km) and Sami culture in Tromsø. During the visit you will experience: Reindeer sledding trip, lasso throwing, sightseeing at the camp, Sami food, storytelling, display of cultural artefacts and joik (traditional Sami song). In the afternoon enjoy Tromsø on your own. Notable attractions include the Polar Museum, the Art Museum of Northern Norway and the Arctic Cathedral. For a fantastic bird’s eye view over the city, it’s well worth a ride up to Mt. Storsteinen (421 m/1382 ft) on the Fjellheisen cable car. Overnight at Thon Hotel Tromsø, or similar.
Day 4: Tromsø – Alta
Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to the airport of Tromsø and flight to Alta (not included). Arrival in Alta and private transfer to the hotel. Alta is known as the city of Northern Lights. It is the largest city in the county of Finnmark and is a modern city. The countryside around Alta is diverse and imposing and includes the largest canyon in Northern Europe, the Sautso Canyon, and the vast tundra on the Finnmark Mountain plateau. Alta lies in the innermost reaches of the stunningly beautiful Alta Fjord. In the winter the temperature can drop below 30o the experience. At 16.00: Join a snowmobile safari hunting the Northern lights (2 persons per snowmobile) An introduction about the northern lights and an evaluation of the chances of seeing them this evening will be done before you are provided with the necessary clothing and start the snowmobile safari. Arriving in the mountain you will hopefully see the lights and the guides will tell you more about the beliefs and stories that the samii people have forwarded in generations. Day 5: Alta – Igloo Hotel
Breakfast at the hotel. At 10.00 join a dog sled safari . You can choose to sit back and relax on the sled and let your guide do the work or you can drive your own sled. The dogs are friendly and enjoy their work. There is no better way to experience the Alta Canyon. At 16.00: Bustransfer from Rica Alta to Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel. The Igloo Hotel is situated in Sorrisniva, 20 km from Alta Town Centre, in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta River. The hotel measures approx. 2000 square meters and the entire exterior and interior is made out of snow and ice; the rooms, the beds, even the glasses in the icebar. Apart from its 25 bedrooms, the Igloo Hotel houses a suite, a bar and several lounges. The hotel is decorated with ice sculptures which are exquisite works of art. The service building next to the Icehotel contains a luggage room where your bags are stored safely during your stay. The rooms in the hotel contain only your beds while other facilities like toilets, changing rooms, showers and sauna are in the warm service building to endure your comfort. The sauna is heated every morning at 7 am. In the evening you can enjoy dinner in one of the two restaurants. Overnight at the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel.
Day 6: Departure Alta
Morning sauna and breakfast. At 10.00 transfer to Alta and onward to the airport. Flight departure from Alta Airport (flight not included).
